The City of London Choir has a lively recording schedule under the direction of Hilary Davan Wetton. Our most recent CD is the premiere recording of John Gardner’s Ballad of the White Horse for EM Records with the BBC Concert Orchestra and baritone Ashley Riches.

In 2016, we recorded Haydn’s Nelson Mass and Mass in Time of War with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and a thrilling line-up of soloists, released by RPO Records.

Flowers of the Field, recorded for Naxos in 2014 with Jeremy Irons, baritone Roderick Williams and the London Mozart Players, went straight to the top of the Specialist Classical Chart in November 2014 and has been widely praised in the national press.

Previous recordings include Beethoven’s Der glorreiche Augenblick with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (Naxos), Holst’s The Coming of Christ and John Gardner’s Cantata for Christmas (both EM Records). All have been enthusiastically received, with Der glorreiche Augenblick getting a five-star review from BBC Music Magazine.

Our bestsellers, proving popular year after year since their release, are two of our Christmas albums. In Terra Pax: A Christmas Anthology (Naxos, 2009), with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and baritone Roderick Williams, includes Finzi’s evocative cantata, In Terra Pax, and a selection of some of the loveliest English carols, and reached no. 2 in the Specialist Classical Chart. The Nation’s Favourite Christmas Carols is a selection of festive favourites recorded with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, baritone Bryn Terfel and soprano Grace Davidson, released by Decca in conjunction with Classic FM in December 2017.

We’ve also made guest appearances in Tony Palmer’s critically acclaimed documentaries Holst: In the Bleak Midwinter (2011) and Britten: Nocturne (2013).
